The five-star 136-room G&V Royal Mile Hotel - formerly the Hotel Missoni Edinburgh - will become the first to join the collection following the termination of Carlson Rezidor’s partnership with Italian fashion label Missoni.
The hotel's new name is a nod to its location on the corner of George IV Bridge, Victoria Street and The Royal Mile.
Edinburgh-based fashion designer Judy R Clark, leading Glasgow-based designers Timorous Beasties, and local kilt desginer Howie Nicholsby have been recruited to develop new Scottish-inspired uniforms, crockery and linens for the hotel, and the property will open a new guest lounge with views across Edinburgh in the summer.
All other aspects of the design-focused hotel will remain the same, including its award-winning Cucina restaurant.
Carina Svensen, G&V Royal Mile Hotel’s general manager, said; “G&V Royal Mile Hotel will embody modern, yet relaxed luxury. Along with our fantastic team here at the hotel, I’m looking forward to the journey ahead, enhancing the guest experience, drawing on local character, culture and home-grown talent, as well as making the most of our privileged location."
May Fair hotel
Meanwhile, London’s May Fair hotel, which is owned and operated by Edwardian Group, will join the Quorvus Collection later this summer.
The hotel has more than 400 luxury bedrooms with 13 signature suites and 16 meeting and function rooms. It also features a luxury bar, theatre, spa, restaurant and cigar terrace.
Iype Abraham, Edwardian Group London commercial development director said: “The May Fair Hotel is a luxury, five star hotel at the heart of London’s most stylish district, with a fantastically rich heritage dating back to 1927. We are delighted to be included as a member of the Quorvus Collection and believe that this will further enhance our guests’ experience.”
Quorvus Collection
The two UK hotels will join the Symphony Style Hotel Kuwait as the first three properties in the Quorvus Collection - a global portfolio of luxury, five-star properties, which was launched by Carlson Rezidor at the beginning of this year.
The group said the brand – whose name was inspired by the Corvus constellation - will incorporate “expertly curated luxury hotels inspired by the lifestyle and needs of the contemporary global traveller.”
Member hotels will include historic landmarks, contemporary residences, classic boutiques and urban retreats, with all focused around six core lifestyle elements – Wellness, Replenishment, Style, Inspiration, Entertainment and Connectivity.
Wolfgang M. Neumann, president and chief executive of the Rezidor Hotel Group, said: “We are delighted to welcome three iconic hotels to Quorvus Collection, our latest luxury brand. Each property has its own unique style, personality and heritage with one essential factor at the core – a five-star luxury hotel experience.
“These three unique hotels lay a strong foundation for the further development of Quorvus Collection. The Edinburgh and Kuwait hotels will join the Quorvus Collection immediately, and we anticipate The May Far joining the collection later in the summer of 2014. We aim to grow a global portfolio of 20 hotels in operation and under development by 2020 through conversions and newly built urban hotels and resorts."
