Late Night London’s new venture Core opens in the City

Late Night London’s latest bar and restaurant Core opened in the City last week, combining the company’s new take on day-time eating and drinking with a late night offering.

Located on Queen Street, Core is open until 12am on weeknights and until ‘late’ on Thursdays and Fridays. At the weekend it is available for private hire.

Late Night London told BigHospitality it chose the venue because it is at the heart of the city, with decent transport connections, and in an area that was desperate for an injection of life, which presented the company with an opportunity to do something different.

The bar offers dining, dancing and drinking, but Late Night London stressed it is not just a night time venue, and will be open through the day for food and coffee.

Day and evening dining

While the Core is essentially a bar, it has an extensive food menu and will offer all-day dining from coffee in the morning through to late night dinner.

Dishes include Hot Salted Beef Sandwich, Sweet Chilli Salmon, and a large range of different burgers. Late Night London described the menu as 'fun and frivolous' but still able to take into account the needs of clientele who work hard and need different things at different times.

A distinctive 'Brew and Brew' menu of coffee cocktails designed by Core's head mixologist David Kay is also available. Made from selected craft beers with a shot of cafffeine, the cocktails will be served throughout the day to encourage customers to drop by after work or during lunchtime.

Core also has a unique cocktail menu, featuring new combinations such as the Garden Jam which combines pureed strawberries, basil leaves, lemon juice and vodka in a jam jar, or the Jelly Beanz, a concoction of Southern Comfort and peach liqueur shaken with blackberry jam, cranberry and lime juice, served over ice with jelly beans.

Interior atmosphere

Core has a number of different seating options from more intimate booths to open tables, and also has room for dancing. The décor is aimed towards an urban cool look which combines graffiti, exposed brickwork and industrial lighting.

Late Night London told BigHospitality it wanted to create an atmosphere of 'New York chic' mixed with the ambiance found in both London and Berlin, with a venue that has a buzz in the evening but also offers a place to escape from the demands of a day's work in the City.

Core is located at Aldermary House, 10-15 Queen Street.
