Stevie Thomas, Jono Remington-Hobbs, Jolyon Klean and brothers Oliver and Benjamin Bolton and are opening Mode on the former site of Supperclub at 12 Acklam Road in Notting Hill.
Billed as a restaurant, bar and late night venue, Mode will run in six months ‘chapters’, with signature cocktails, art installations and music schedules to match. The first chapter, ‘Future Vintage’, will be inspired by the industrial revolution.
Mode’s interior has been designed by creative director Robin Collings, the co-founder of Shangri-La at Glastronbury, and features original artwork from street artists such as Obey Giant and Andrew Cross.
The venue’s centrepiece is a six-metre sculpture of a mutant Spitfire by artist and sculptor Ruby Soho. A floor to ceiling pipe organ saved from the walls of a dis-used church has been re-modelled as a flame thrower that sits at the far end of the ground floor.
The venue will also showcase signed and unsigned musical talent – with both live bands and DJs. Every Thursday, Mode Live will offer a night of live world music performances, with a headline artist to draw in the crowds.
Food and drink
Executive chef Andi Oliver has developed a menu of contemporary dishes such as blood orange and vodka cured salmon; miso-glazed pollock cheeks, pak choi chive flowers stacked on a roast cauliflower cream waffle and fillet of spiced chocolate rubbed beef, ginger pickled radish and chocolate horseradish, honey and wild garlic butter.
“Our food draws inspiration from all over the world, intertwining simple and beautiful ingredients to create a little bit of everyday magic on your plate,” said Oliver.
“At MODE we split the menu equally between single and sharing plates to encourage feasting with friends and family”.
Desserts will include gin and tonic and lemon sherbet and vanilla bean cream ice lollies, white chocolate coconut bars and dark chocolate dipped marshmallows served with pink Prosecco.
The cocktail menu will include 'classics with a twist' alongside signature cocktails that change depending on the 'chapter'
