The group, which serves speciality pizzas and regional dishes, has secured a restaurant site at 7 Northumberland Avenue for its fourth restaurant, its first in central London, which will serve Italian food 'that remains true to its culinary roots'.
Friends Margarita, originally from Naples and Parodi, from Rome, opened the first Bianco43 in Greenwich in 2011 with the aim of providing authentic Italian food to Londoners.
They opened a takeaway in Greenwich before opening their second restaurant in Blackheath in November 2013. The company also owns the Osteria del Mercato site in Leadenhall Market.
Authentic Italian
Like its sister sites in Greenwich and Blackheath, the latest Bianco43 will serve authentic Italian dishes such as Neapolitan-style pizzas (starting at £8); Ravioli Burro e Salvia (£13.50) and Filetto di Branzino - sea bass fillet with fresh cherry tomatoes, potatoes, lemon zest and basil (£15.90), with many of the ingredients shipped in directly from Italy. The wine list is exclusively Italian.
"We care about our product, which is why we fly in shipments of our ingredients straight from Italy once or often twice a week," said Parodi. "Everything from the flour – Caputo Tipo 00 Pizza Flour, to the tomatoes – San Marzano, to the mozzarella – Fior di Latte from Naples.
“The majority of our pastas, such as lasagne, ravioli and pappardelle are freshly homemade by our chefs. All of our desserts including tiramisu and panna cotta are also homemade, except the fruit sorbets, which come directly from a tiny family ‘gelateria’ in Naples."
Margarita said the company aimed for authenticity: “We gave the restaurant the name Bianco, meaning ‘white’ in Italian, to reflect the restaurants’ clean whitewashed interior. We wanted to give our guests the impression they were staying in a summery Italian city by the sea side. In fact, everything in our restaurant is Italian, including the wood fired oven, which is the heart of Bianco43.”
