One of the Petrou Brothers’ two sites, in the town’s Burleigh Street, will re-open on 13 January under the name ‘Young’s Fish & Chips, brought to you by the Petrou Brothers’. It will be revamped to feature the brand’s signature navy blue and red décor.
“At a time when many high street brands are purely focused on creating presence in the supermarket aisles with branded products, Young’s Seafood Limited is also taking our retail brand to the high street with this innovative new venture,” said Simon Clarke, business unit director at Young’s Seafood Limited.
“In combining the extensive seafood knowledge and trusted brand strength of Young’s Seafood Limited with the retail and frying expertise of Mark and Pete Petrou, we strongly believe that we have the perfect skillset to make this new enterprise a significant success.”
Supplier-to-operator
The revamped site, which represents Young’s Seafood Limited’s first venture into supplying Young’s fish direct to the consumer, will feature an extended restaurant as well as take away service.
Clarke added: “Young’s Seafood Limited, responsibly sourced, frozen at sea fish will be used throughout the restaurant, whilst all fish-related product such as the fish cakes will all have originated from Young’s fish.
“Young’s Seafood’s foodservice business has supplied fish to this sector of the industry for many years and this provides the opportunity to present our seafood directly to consumers on the high street.”
The Petrou Brothers, who were recently presented with the Outstanding Achievement accolade at the National Fish & Chip Awards, have other sites in Chatteris, March and Ely – all in Cambridgeshire.
Mark Petrou said: “The involvement of a major retail brand into the fish and chip sector highlights how far the industry has come in the last few years. We honestly believe that in having Young’s Seafood Limited involved in the sector is a significant achievement and one which can be good for the industry as a whole.”
