The Exotic Teapot launches fruit-flavoured white tea range

The Exotic Teapot, an online retailer of speciality teas, glass teaware and tea gifts, has launched a new range of flowering teas for caterers following a 160 per cent increase in sales over the past year.

Product details:

The new range of flowering teas is made using hand-picked Mao Feng tea buds from the Fujian province of China and is available in five ‘white’ varieties – peach; mango; strawberry; orange and vanilla.

USP:

The hand-tied tea blooms unfurl theatrically when steeped in hot water, adding a more unique aspect to the tea making ritual.

Availability:

The flowering teas are available individually to trade customers in a range of sampler tins and pouches (five or 10 different blooms), 1kg bags and as part of a new glass teapot Discovery Set.

Cost:

1kg pouches are £85 each (approx 120 blooms) or £0.71 per individual bloom. Higher trade discounts are available for larger quantities. 50 bloom pouches are priced at £50 (£1 each).

Why you should buy it:

Paul Iliffe, The Exotic Teapot founder, said: “A flowering tea appeals to all the senses when it blooms and can quickly become the talking point of a dinner table. We often see restaurant customers on nearby tables become so intrigued by the spectacle; they want to order one for themselves.

“People eating out increasingly seek an experience that goes beyond the ordinary old teabag in a cup ritual and they are happy to pay extra for it. Caterers are seeing significant uplift in tea sales as a result of our speciality teas.”
