Global Payments rolls out Discover Global Network acceptance

Card processing provider Global Payments has rolled out its Discover Global Network acceptance to enable its UK customers to take five major international credit and debit cards.

Product details:

Global Payments has today rolled out its Discover Global Network acceptance which will enable its UK customers to take five major international cards - Diners Club International, Discover Card (from the US), RuPay (from India), BC Global Card (South Korea) and Serbian national payment card DinaCard. The upgrade will take place from November and will allow customers to accept cards from a wider number of international visitors, said Global Payments. The move follows the launch of Union Pay acceptance by Global Payments in 2012, which enabled Chinese visitors to use their cards in the UK for the first time.

USP:

The new technology is designed to allow retailers and hospitality outlets to attract greater numbers and spend from international visitors to the UK. This group spent £13.7 billion in the UK between January and August 2013 according to figures from the Office of National Statistics and £20 billion over the past year.

Price:

The upgrade is free to existing Global Payments customers with Ingenico terminals. Transactions on the cards will incur a fee.

Availability:

Customers will be contacted by Global Payments about how they can upgrade to accept the Discover Global Network.

Why you should upgrade:

Chris Davies, managing director, Global Payments said: “As we see significant growth in the number of international visitors to the UK, this technology will position our customers to capture a greater share of the money they spend whilst they are here. Acceptance of the full Discover Global Network opens huge opportunities for the businesses we work with in potential revenues, while improving their customer service for international guests.”
