Anthony Demetre to open pop-up restaurant at Tower 42
The temporary restaurant will open within the space currently occupied by Rhodes Twenty Four, which closes at the end of the month following a 10 year partnership between Gary Rhodes and Restaurant Associates, and will serve a modern bistro menu featuring popular dishes from Demetre's Michelin-starred restaurants.
Patrick Powell, who has worked at Wild Honey for the last two years, has been appointed head chef of AD12 atT42 and will oversee a kitchen which will turn out dishes such as squid and mackerel burger with Cornish razor clams; crisp pigs head with potato purée and pickled turnip; London honey ice cream with honeycomb and chocolate Aero bar with pears.
Diners will also be able to choose selected number of wines served by the carafe, as they do at Demetre's other restaurants.
New era
Restaurant Associates, the restaurant management arm of contract caterer Compass Group, said the move marked the beginning of a 'new era' for the company and led the way for further collaborations 'with some of the UK's most talented and exciting chefs'.
“We are delighted to announce the opening of AD12 atT42 with Anthony Demetre and incredibly excited about this new phase for Restaurant Associates at Tower 42," said Andy Harris, managing director of Restaurant Associates.
"Our relationships with renowned chefs like Anthony are based on a shared philosophy of bringing the world’s best to every one of our customers. A combination of a fantastic culinary experience and spectacular views of the iconic London skyline at AD12 atT42 are set to delight diners this autumn, marking an exciting time not just for us, but for London’s thriving culinary scene.”
AD12 atT42 will open on 1 October and will run for three months before making way for Restaurant Associates' next permanent fixture at Tower 42 - a restaurant run by Jason Atherton.
The chef, who started working with Restaurant Associates in 2010 to help the company develop a new corporate dining offer, is set to open the new restaurant, his first in the City, next spring.
