The five year contract with the Royal Parks will start in November 2013 and will see the company, led by founder Ben Warner and managing director Guy Kellner, 'revolutionise' the catering offering across the 197-hectare space.
Under terms of the contract, Benugo will turn the park's Garden Café into The Regent's Bar & Kitchen, a family-friendly restaurant serving wood fired pizzas, salads and other dishes using British ingredients to eat-in or take away.
A second restaurant, currently called The Honest Sausage and located at The Broadwalk, near London Zoo, will serve a barbecue-style menu of ribs, buns and slaw which can also be eaten-in or taken away.
Other outlets include a smoothie and shake bar at The Hub sports facility; an espresso bar at the current Chester Road kiosk which will serve Benugo's Single Estate coffee, cakes and sandwiches and other kiosks on Marylebone Green, Holme Green and Hanover Bridges. A food truck on Primrose Hill will also be set up serving hot dogs, sandwiches, ice-cream and coffee.
Organic growth
Speaking to BigHospitality after receiving confirmation of a contract win, Kellner said it was the latest step in what had been a successful few years for the group, which was acquired by BaxterStorey in 2008: "We're really pleased to have won The Regent's Park contract. That is great growth. Our business has grown organically over the last four years and we are proud of that."
A full refurbishment of all the venues is expected to be completed by spring 2014.
The latest contract win follows two new openings in London for Benugo this year - Fields Bar & Kitchen at Lincoln's Inn Fields and The Garden Café at Brown Hart Gardens and follows its commitment to providing catering at a number of museums, public spaces and historic buildings including the V&A and the Natural History Museum in Lodnon, Ashmolean in Oxford and Edinburgh Castle.
