Cheese wholesaler Cheese Cellar has launched Quickes Elderflower, a Cheddar cheese with the addition of elderflower flakes.

Product details:

Quickes Elderflower is a cheese which has been produced like a Cheddar, but has the addition of elderflower flakes at, giving it an aromatic flavour. Instead of being sold at 12 to 24 months of age, the cheese is sold at three to four months of age, giving it a more buttery and creamy taste than older varieties which is said to complement the aromatic nature of the elderflower. Eighteen months in development, this new addition to the Devon farm's products, comes in a 1.8kg clothbound truckle.

USP:

The cheese is a unique partnership between Tom Chatfield of Quickes and Tracey Colley of Cheese Cellar who came up with the idea to produce a flavoured cheese that would appeal to the top end of the market. The cheese's launch is also being marked by an initiative to raise money for Action Against Hunger with a proportion of every sale to be donated to the charity.

Price:

The cheese has a suggested retail price of £22 per kg. Please contact Cheese Cellar directly (details below) to enquire about trade prices.

Availability:

Through Cheese Cellar, visit www.cheesecellar.co.uk or call 020 7819 6001.

Why you should buy it:

Colley said: "The cheese has an unusual combination of flavours - buttery richness balancing the aromatic note of the elderflower - and is a fabulous new cheese for the flavour-added market."
