Nightclub giant Luminar is undergoing a major rebranding and refurbishment of its 10 Oceana venues across the UK, which will see them renamed Pryzm to reflect the multi-characteristics of the new format.

The company, which last week reported ‘strong financial progress’ in its annual results, hopes the new-look nightclubs will appeal to a wider audience as chief executive Peter Marks says ‘fashions and trends evolve’.

“Oceana has been a successful brand for 11 years but the time has come to create a new, high-quality clubbing experience,” said Marks. “And we need a name that reflects those changes.

“The Pryzm name reflects the multi-characteristics of the new format which features three distinct clubs, an exclusive VIP area plus a chic and stylish bar called My all under one roof..”

Oceana Bristol, which is currently undergoing a £1m refurbishment as a ‘blueprint for the entire estate, will be the first to adopt the Pryzm branding when it re-opens at the beginning of September. The remaining clubs will then be rebranding as they all undergo major refurbishments.

Relighting Luminar

Marks added: “When we unveil Pryzm Bristol in September for the first time, customers will be really impressed with the cutting-edge design, layout, technology and entertainment that the club will be providing.  We are confident that Pryzm will appeal to a wider audience looking for a great night out.”

The Luminar Group is the UK’s largest nightclub operator with 53 clubs across the country. Last week’s results marked a return to profit under the new management team, which took ownership of the nightclub estate 18 months ago. Its results for the year ending 23 February delivered a pre-tax profit of £1.3m off a turnover of £89.9m.

Luminar was at one point worth over £800m and operated more than 300 nightclubs and late-night venues. It was placed into administration in October 2011,with just 75 clubs, debts of £85m and a market capitalisation just north of £700k.
