Securasound has launched Guest Lock, a code-operated lock, which it says is ideal for small and boutique hotels who want to do away with room keys.

Product details:

Guest Lock is a code-operated lock which can be fitted to doors of any sized hotel. On arrival, guests are given a three digit code which they use to programme their own four digit PIN code that they can use throughout their stay. Staff are able to open the lock at any time via a master code or a sub master code which they can use if the guest forgets their PIN or when they need to reset the guest's code on departure.

USP:

The system is thought to be ideal for smaller hotels and B&Bs because there is no need to have a central PC or control unit to programme cards and removes any concerns of lost keys.

Price:

Guest Lock medium duty is £99.00 plus VAT per lock and and Guest Lock heavy duty is £125.00 plus VAT.

Availability:

From Securasound at www.securasound.co.uk or call 01948 667600.

Why you should buy it:

Jason Wainwright of Securasound said: “The big advantage with the Guest Lock for hotel owners is that it does away with the need to manage room keys without the expense and hassle of a card/token based system. If you have twin or family accommodation then you don’t need to supply multiple keys if guests want to come or go independently of each other, or perhaps you have a family in two rooms with older children, they can set their locks to the same pin code allowing the parents easy access.

"While not an everyday problem, but certainly a regular problem, is the guest who leaves, taking their room key with them, which they can often take days/weeks to be posted back, resulting in the need for duplicate keys or the need to change lock barrels. With Guest Lock, all locks can be set with one owner code removing the need for Master Keys, or you can have one owner code and different codes for House Keeping. Once a guest departs it just takes a few seconds to reset the locks for the next guest. Guest Lock can be fitted by someone with good DIY skills, allowing you to install it in your product one room at a time if you wish or just on selected rooms.”
