Starwood unveils refurbished Park Tower Knightsbridge hotel
The re-launch of the iconic 280-bedroom Knightsbridge venue is timed to coincide with its 40th anniversary.
Luxury travellers
Led by London-based interior designer Anita Rosato, the refurb has seen a complete redesign of the lobby, lounge and bar in order to attract a 'new generation of luxury travellers'.
"From the exterior lighting sweeping up the tower, to the hand-picked finishes, such as the rich mahogany, light polished marble and glimmering metal accents, the feeling of anticipation and intrigue that guests will experience when arriving at the hotel was key,” Rosato explained.
"This refurbishment celebrates the ethos of British design and utilises great craftsmanship whilst preserving the original spirit of the hotel."
Starwood's refurb of the venue comes less than a month after the inaugural Luxury Hospitality summit in Switzerland where Paul James, global brand leader for Starwood's St Regis Hotels & Resorts brand, revealed 85 per cent of the company's luxury hotel guests were now from Generation X and Y and were demanding a different and more personalised service.
Knightsbridge
The Park Tower Knightsbridge hotel, which was originally designed by architect Richard Seifert, now features a renovated lobby with a colour palette inspired by nearby Hyde Park.
A crystal and porcelain chandelier from a British designer has been brought in as a new centrepiece, while the reception area now features a piece of art in relief depicting the park's rose gardens.
The new lounge will offer a selection of Champagnes and Rococo hot chocolates as well as traditional afternoon teas.
The redesigned bar is more contemporary with a modern gentleman's club design as the backdrop to the venue's whisky-focused drinks menu - an 'eclectic' food offering is also available.
The Knightsbridge venue also features 22 suites, a fitness centre and the One-O-One seafood restaurant.
Sue Finlay, the hotel's manager, said: “My goal is to provide new and returning guests with a truly personalised service in the heart of one of London’s most vibrant and bustling districts.
"We invite them to discover the area’s rich heritage and hidden gems, unveiling a treasure trove of luxury experiences in London."
Starwood Hotels & Resorts, which operates 85 hotels under The Luxury Collection brand, has recently said the UK remains 'key' to its development plans.
Earlier this year, Roeland Vos was appointed to succeed industry veteran Michael Wale as Starwood's Europe, Africa, & Middle East (EAME) region president.
