The team behind a number of successful London bars and nightclubs including Barts and Bunga Bunga have brought ‘70s Manhattan’ to Soho with the launch of underground nightclub, Disco.

The Inception Group want its fifth venue, situated at the bottom of a graffitied staircase in Kingly Court, to celebrate the different decades of disco music, with choreographed routines from dancers, retro televisions beaming out music videos, and a live countdown from one year to the next every midnight.

“We love the style and music of the entire disco era,” said Duncan Stirling, who owns the Inception Group with Charlie Gilkes. “We wanted to create a venue that transcends the entire era, and will be a one stop shop for those that witnessed disco first time around and or those for whom it will be an entirely new experience.“

Managed by Edd Kiggins, the small, intimate venue will offer a range of disco-themed cocktails served up by bar staff clad in bow ties and braces. Drinks include the ‘D.I.S.C.O Sling’ (Don Julio Anejo, D.O.M. benedictine, crème de framboise and lime juice mixed with raspberries, mint leaves and honey) and ‘Boogie Nights’ (Russian Standard Vodka , Campari, passion fruit puree and gomme syrup).

Boarding passes

Retro soft drinks such as Dr. Pepper, R whites lemonade, Mountain Dew and Dandelion and burdock will also be available, alongside a range of canapes available for pre-booked events.

Disco guests will be greeted at this Pan Am-inspired lounge

The venue’s innovate design features include a Pan Am-inspired lounge, with ‘air stewardesses’ greeting guests by issuing ’boarding passes’ and  checking personal items into the cloakroom via an automated conveyor belt before guests enter the club through aeroplane doors.

Other walls within Disco will be adorned with colourful rollerskates, cassette tapes and nightlife memorabilia. The bar will be mocked up to resemble a vintage fairground stall.

The Inception Group also owns and operates Chelsea speakeasy Barts; 80s-themed nightclub Maggie’s; talian, Bar, Pizzeria and Karaoke venue Bunga Bunga; and the recently launched Mr Fogg’s in Mayfair.

Disco nightclub and bar has just opened at 13 Kingly Court.
