Just Desserts to launch range of individual tarts

Yorkshire-based bakers and pâtissiers Just Desserts has created a range of individual tarts for foodservice buyers which will be launched later this month.

Product details:

The company has created the range after seeing an increase in the continuing trend for mini-desserts. The tarts are designed to appeal to restaurants looking for a smaller, individual dessert option.

Just Desserts has used the recipes for its multi-portion tarts to create a range of 10cm products handmade with butter pastry.

The range of tarts, which will be launched at this year's Speciality Food Show in Harrogate later this month, includes:

  • Treacle tart
  • Pear & almond franzipan
  • Rhubarb franzipan
  • Bakewell tart
  • Yorkshire curd tart

The company will also unveil a range of six gluten-free cakes at the show.

USP:

Just Desserts has invested in a new bakery blocker to produce the new range - it features a fluted pastry edge for a 'more artisan feel'.

Availability:

The entire product range is currently available direct from Just Desserts in boxes of nine tarts.

Discussions with a national wholesaler are ongoing but have yet to be finalised.

Price:

A box of nine tarts will cost between £1.50 and £1.75 depending on the tart in question.

Why should you buy it?

James O’Dwyer, managing director at Just Desserts, said: "Our new individual tarts are a welcome addition to our product offer and because of their versatility, they should be attractive to a larger number of foodservice customers.

"The range should be highly appealing to customers in our target markets as they want to indulge, at least a little, when dining out or meeting for coffee, but are still feeling cash-strapped, so these products allow them to enjoy an after dinner dessert or a coffee and sweet treat."
