Hand Picked Hotels acquires St Pierre Park Hotel & Golf Resort in Guernsey

Hand Picked Hotels, the country house hotel firm founded in 2001, has acquired the 131-bedroom St Pierre Park Hotel & Golf Resort in Guernsey.

Hand Picked Hotels, which was created by lawyer turned hotelier Julia Hands and her financier husband Guy, has agreed terms for the acquisition of the venue from Channel Islands-based retailer SandpiperCI for an undisclosed amount.

The acquisition, which is now subject to regulatory and legal clearances, is part of a strategic expansion by Hand Picked Hotels to increase its presence in the area. The hotel company also owns the L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa in St Brelade’s Bay, Jersey.

“St Pierre Park will be our second resort hotel alongside L’Horizon in Jersey," said Julia Hands this week. "The hotel is a great family destination and an excellent place for leisure breaks, weddings and business meetings and conferences."

Attracting guests

The four-star Guernsey resort features major conference and banqueting facilities for up to 360 people, a leisure spa and a range of dining options.

"Guernsey is a beautiful island with good beaches, water sports, and excellent local produce," Hands added. "We look forward to attracting guests from the UK and elsewhere in Europe and further afield," she said

Hand Picked Hotels will operate and manage the resort if the acquisition is completed.

The company will then own an estate of 19 hotels including Bailbrook House in Bath which was purchased last year and joins the collection following a £10m renovation.

St Pierre Park Hotel is set in 35 acres of parkland just outside the island's capital - St Peter Port - and features a nine-hole golf course, spa, gym, all-weather tennis courts and a croquet lawn.
