The 120-bedroom hotel is the 11th UK venue to open under the US-based company's mid-priced brand and is the 12th airport hotel the firm has opened in this country.
Managed
Interstate Hotels & Resorts, which will be managing the new hotel, currently manages two Hampton by Hilton properties in Europe and has this week announced it is also looking to manage a hotel under the brand in Sheffield.
"This is the second Hampton by Hilton we have opened in the UK and we’re committed to rolling out the brand to other major European cities," said Nick Taplin from Interstate. Earlier this year the company acquired Sanguine Hospitality's hotel management business.
"In addition to Exeter, we currently have Hampton by Hilton hotels in Amsterdam and Birmingham, and we are developing a fourth in Sheffield. It is a very exciting brand that we are proud to have in our management portfolio," Taplin added.
Exeter
Located less than a mile from Exeter International Airport the hotel is targeted at air traveller guests but also those looking to visit the nearby city centre or local area.
Simon Vincent, area president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) at Hilton Worldwide, said: “Hilton Worldwide is the largest global operator of airport hotels by room numbers and through our portfolio of brands we constantly seek to redefine the airport hotel experience."
The hotel opening is the latest in a number of new developments to have taken place east of Exeter - Flybe has recently opened a new training academy and infrastructure work has been taking place as part of the Exeter and East Devon Growth Point project.
"Exeter Airport acts as an important gateway to the tourism hotspots of Devon and Cornwall, and has this year brought the number of destinations it serves up to 50 for the first time," Vincent explained.
Features of the Hampton by Hilton brand include a free hot breakfast, a 24-hour snack area and a full bar. The Exeter hotel also features a 24-hour business facility and access to nearby conference and meeting rooms
Hilton Worldwide currently operates around 1,900 Hampton by Hilton hotels in 11 countries around the world.
