Business advisory firm Cooper Parry announced that Tyrone Courtman and Nicholas Edwards had been appointed joint administrators of Fat Cat Café Bars Limited and Fat Cat Restaurants Limited on 23 April.
Fat Cat was founded in north Wales and now operates three sites in Wales as well as venues in Leicester, Chester and Nottingham. The administration news follows an announcement last week that Colliers International have been instructed to sell six of the companies' sites including one freehold and four free-of-tie leasehold properties.
Tyrone Courtman, head of restructuring at Cooper Parry, said a number of the bars were expected to trade on but warned some redundancies among the 200 current staff was 'inevitable'.
"The companies have been adversely affected by poor trading at a few of their outlets," he explained. "The administration affords the companies the opportunity of restructuring its business whilst continuing to trade. We believe that those bars continuing are successful performers and we already have significant interest in them continuing as a going concern."
According to the Fat Cat Café Bars website, the Wrexham site was shut down in February. It is thought that three of the other bars have already been closed by the administrators.
