The renowned student catering competition celebrates its 25th anniversary year in 2013 and demand has been so high that organisers have had to add extra dates of heats.
“We’re overwhelmed by the ongoing interest in and support for the Nestlé Toque D’Or shown by colleges and we are particularly delighted to have engaged with so many young people in this historic 25th anniversary year," said Neil Stephens, managing director of Nestlé Professional.
Each team entering the annual contest is made up of one waiter and one chef who are marked on their ability to work together as well as on their individual performance.
“As the gold standard for student catering competitions the quality of Nestlé Toque D’Or entrants is always high, and as ever the students have displayed talent and enthusiasm that has been quite simply incredible, which I’m sure will make for a spectacular grand finals event in May."
Heats will now take place in Birmingham, Portsmouth, Blackpool, Sheffield, Glasgow, Bath, London and Norwich. After the last heat later this month, eight finalists will be announced who will then fight for the title and prize which includes three weeks with Anton Mosimann.
