The New Restaurant category is one of 16 in the awards, which are now in their 20th year. Other categories include Restaurant Chef, Pub Restaurant Chef and Apprentice Chef.
Fourteen of the 16 categories are nominated while two - New Restaurant of the Year and The Special Award - are chosen by judges from the Guild.
Shortlisted businesses and individuals will have to wait until 10 June for the awards night at London's Grosvenor House Hotel to find out who has won.
Tough contest
CGC vice president and awards organiser Steve Munkley said this year had been the toughest ever in terms of shortlisting candidates.
“The quality of entrants in probably 60 percent of the categories far exceeded any other year,” he said. “In fact, discussions round the table were quite heated at times, with judges emphatically fighting different people’s corners.
"Why such a high calibre this year? The answer is, I don’t know, but it’s safe to say more and more people want one of these awards on their CV. We’d like to congratulate all our nominees and look forward to seeing them at what has become a truly outstanding event.”
The Craft Guild of Chefs Awards aim to reward chef talent from all areas of the industry, from pubs to fine dining restaurants or from military units to contract catering.
