Zafran launches saffron and rosewater Persian ice cream
Product details:
Manufactured in New Forest Ice Cream’s recently-completed factory in Lymington, the saffron and rosewater ice cream is a smooth, creamy dessert with the earthy taste of the world's most expensive spice offset by the delicate rosewater flavours.
The ice cream can be used as a standalone dessert or as an accompaniment to baklava, fig fritters and dark fruit such as blackcurrant and blackberry.
USP:
The ice cream has been created using traditional Persian recipes and uses high-quality saffron. The manufacturer has said the product fills a gap in the UK marketplace and also taps into the growing demand for Persian food.
Availability:
The ice cream is available direct from Zafran Food Company in four litre tubs.
Price:
One four litre tub costs £24.
Why should you buy it?
Sepideh Shahlazadeh, owner of Zafran Food Company, said: "With such a diverse and multicultural population, I have seen the offering of world-inspired foods increase in both large supermarkets and the hospitality industry. What is clear is the lack of Middle Eastern-influenced foods in this sector; in particular there are currently no offerings of Persian cuisine.
"My background allows me to create authentic recipes using the very best ingredients and present them to the UK market. I am confident that they will offer chefs and caterers from all kinds of establishments the chance to offer a Persian choice on their menus to keep abreast of current cuisine trends."
