Sharp’s launches new Connoisseur’s Choice beers

Cornish brewery Sharp’s is launching two new premium bottled beers from its Connoisseur’s Choice range.

Product details:

The Connoisseur’s Choice range is designed to partner food and the two latest additions come in the form of Spiced Red (9% ABV) and Single Brew Reserve 2012 (4.5% ABV).

  • Spiced Red is a deep-red spiced ale brewed with coriander and a fruity yeast originating from Ireland. The beer is dry hopped in warm conditioning with Hallertauer Perle hops. The beer was spiced with coriander just before bottling to boost the hop notes and hop spice stands out on the nose supported by a complex array of fruity, liquorice and malt. In the mouth, the beer is big and warming with a long dry finish.

Spiced Red is a suitably rich partner to stews and roasted red meats.

  • Single Brew Reserve 2012 features US super hop Citra, with a strong aroma and rounded, fruity bitterness. Brewed with Pale Ale and Carapils malts, the beer is first wort-hopped to a mild bitterness. A large amount of Citra is then added during a two month cold maturation to allow the full beauty of the hop fragrance to infuse the beer.

Single Brew Reserve 2012 is excellent as an aperitif or a palate cleanser between courses and is particularly good at lifting citrus flavours.

USP:

The latest additions to the range are a brainchild of Sharp’s head brewer, Stuart Howe, who was crowned the All Party Parliamentary Beer Group Brewer of the Year in 2011. New products will follow from Howe each year ‘reflecting the diversity and beauty of what beer can be’.

Availability:

Spiced Red and Single Brew Reserve 2012 are available through Sharp’s webpage and selected beer retailers now.

Why you should stock it:

Howe said: “The Connoisseur’s Choice range is designed to show the drinker the breadth of flavours and sensations available from beer. They are packed with enticing flavour, a partner to good food and something to savour.

“Spiced Red is a big, warming brew, with a long dry finish. Single Brew Reserve 2012 has a mild bitterness which makes it a very refreshing selection ahead of a sumptuous meal or in between courses.”
