Mews of Mayfair takes over Rocket Mayfair
The 120-cover restaurant, situated within Lancashire Court alongside Hush, re-opened as Mayfair Pizza Co. at the end of January with the intention of carrying on the focus on the pizza and Californian-inspired food that was served at Rocket.
Robson, who opened Mews of Mayfair in 2006, said he thought a pizza restaurant would compliment the British focus of his original restaurant.
"Rocket was very popular for its pizza and it seemed sensible to carry on its legacy," he said.
Mayfair Pizza Co. will serve Italian style pizzas, such as Bianca with truffle and porcini mushrooms cooked in a brick pizza oven alongside Californian-style salads and grilled meat and fish and cater for the after-work drinks crowd.
British brasserie
Its opening follows the the re-opening and re-positioning of Mews of Mayfair as a British brasserie.
The restaurant re-opened at the end of last year with Richard Sawyer, previously of D&D London and Rules, as executive head chef.
Sawyer has created a menu which showcases traditional British dishes using ingredients sourced from suppliers across the UK, such as Paddock Farm pork sausages and mash, salt baked Goosnargh chicken and sticky toffee pudding.
Prices have been engineered to enable diners to have two courses for £20, which the company said gives 'real value in the heart of Mayfair'.
Restaurant group Rocket continues to operate sites in London at Canary Wharf, the City and Bishopsgate and in Nottingham.
