Shangri-La Hotel at The Shard: Details revealed ahead of summer opening

Shangri-La Hotel at The Shard, London, will occupy levels 34 to 52 of the iconic glass skyscraper which will also be home to Oblix, a new restaurant concept from Rainer Becker and Arjun Waney,​ and two eateries from Aqua Restaurant Group.​

Asian hospitality​

All the rooms and suites in the new-build, five-star venue will offer impressive views - the property will also feature four restaurants and bars; three high-tech, river-facing event rooms; an infinity pool and a 24-hour gym located on level 52.

"Shangri-La Hotel at The Shard, London, will be a dramatic introduction of our signature Asian hospitality and style to the United Kingdom," said Greg Dogan, president and chief executive officer of Shangri-La International Hotel Management.

"International guests already familiar with Shangri-La touches will also enjoy panoramic views of London from all vantage points. But most striking will be the authentic and gracious Asian style of service, the hallmark of our 78 hotels and resorts, which will position this new property at the forefront of the world's finest hotels," he added.

At 310 metres, The Shard is the tallest building in Western Europe and has already become a London landmark.

The hotel at The Shard will be the first venue in the UK for the Hong Kong-based company which has also got upcoming projects in mainland China, India, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Qatar, Sri Lanka and Turkey.

Shangri-La Hotel at The Shard, London, will feature four F&B offerings including a deli, destination restaurant and signature bar:

• Gourmet by Shangri-La - A cake shop and artisan deli on the ground floor featuring a selection of signature cakes, home-made chocolates and pastries, takeaway sandwiches and artisan hampers.
• The Shard 35 restaurant - A restaurant on level 35 featuring locally-inspired dishes created with fresh produce from the nearby food markets.
• The Lounge - A space offering traditional afternoon tea and an Asian-inspired Shangri-La tea as well as breakfast and light evening meals.
• GŎNG - A destination bar on level 52 which will feature Chinese architectural elements and will be divided into a number of chambers - cocktail bar, champagne bar and the swimming pool - all specialising in cocktails or late night-drinks.

Luxury features will be at the heart of the new hotel - the function space will comprise three river-facing venues featuring state-of-the-art conferencing technology. A staircase connecting levels 34 and 35 will be used for wedding photographs.

Averaging 452sq.ft, the hotel's guestrooms will all include a specially-made Shangri-La bed featuring 'body-contouring technology', individual coffee machines, butler service in all suites and climate control to complement the building's sun-shielding system.
