House of St Barnabas partners with Benugo for 'not-for-profit' members' club

Charity venue The House of St Barnabas has partnered with café-deli chain Benugo for the opening of The Club – a new, not-for-profit members’ club – in autumn 2013.

The Club will provide work experience opportunities for the homeless, with Benugo delivering the food and beverage options within the Grade I-listed venue situated on the corner of Greek Street and Soho Square.

“Benugo’s enthusiasm, passion and professionalism shines through all of their work and we cannot wait for them to call The House of St Barnabas home,” said The House of St Barnabas’ chief executive Sandra Schembri.

Benugo’s founder Ben Warner and managing director Guy Kellner added: “We’re committed to safeguarding the heritage of The House for the next chapter of its future.

Sustained employment

“It will be a creative new club where members and their guests can support an excellent cause, while enjoying themselves in an unparalleled setting.”

The Club at The House of St Barnabas will offer its membership base an intimate dining room with a supperclub feel, along with a selection of bars and other lounge spaces, as well as access to a private courtyard garden.

The House of St Barnabas’ vision is to ‘create a future where sustained employment is a reality for those affected by homelessness’. The charity will achieve this through its Employment Academy, which will operate as the heart of The Club.

Supportive environment

Clients from the academy will be placed within The Club and trained within hospitality roles. Benugo and The House of St Barnabas will work closely together to foster a supportive environment for everyone who walks through its doors.

It is the first time that Benugo has collaborated with a members’ club. The firm currently operates 10 sites in the capital including Serpentine Bar & Kitchen in Hyde Park, The V&A Café and Ashmolean Dining Room.

People are being invited to apply for a membership at The Club now, with limited places. House membership costs £600 annually, with a £150 joining fee. For more information, visit www.hosb.org.uk.
