Chef Yoshihiro Narisawa's Tokyo restaurant, which is number 27 on the World's 50 Best Restaurants list, topped a list that was dominated by restaurants in Japan, China and Singapore.
Special awards were also given to Janice Wong of 2am: Dessert Bar in Singapore (Asia's Best Pastry Chef), JAAN in Singapore (One To Watch) and Seiji Yamamoto (Chefs' Choice) at the Marina Bay Sands hotel in Singapore.
Restaurant magazine editor William Drew said: "“We launched Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants as part of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants program to recognise the region’s growing restaurant industry and diverse gastronomic landscape. The list is a reflection of Asia’s culinary talent and showcases individuals that share a passion for excellence."
Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list is created from The Diners Club World’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy, a group of 900 international leaders in the restaurant industry who are selected for their expert opinion of the international restaurant scene.
