Homeslice Pizza to open Covent Garden restaurant
Jessup will open the 50-cover restaurant in Neal's Yard next month in partnership with former TV chef and restaurateur Mark Wogan where he plans to continue his ethos of serving 'home cooked pizza for the people' using simple, quality ingredients and creating contemporary flavour combinations.
"We are keeping it simple," said Jessup. "Mark really understands what Homeslice is all about."
Homeslice restaurant will open every day to serve slices of pizza for £4 and whole pizzas for £20. Both will be available to eat in or take away.
Jessup will hand-roll each pizza base on a marble work surface and cook them in a wood fired oven in an open kitchen.
Customers will be able to choose from five options each day, such as artichoke and courgette with fresh lemon and parsley or bone marrow, fire roasted spring onion and watercress. The classic Margarita will be a constant on the menu and each day's selection will be published on the restaurant's Twitter feed @homesliceLDN.
The drinks list will also be simple - pints of beer and glasses of wine will also be £4 with customers able to serve their own wine from bottles on the tables.
“British beer and Prosecco on tap, double magnums of house wine with a measuring stick on the tables for customers to help themselves and only pay for what they drink, and of course the pizza – that’s it," said Jessup.
New Zealander Jessup, who also ran a pop-up at The Filling Station in Kings Cross, follows other street food operators such as Meat Liquor and Pitt Cue Co. in taking up a more permanent site in London.
