A new app called iDon'tQ, which allows customers to make orders and pay without having to wait, is currently being trialled in selected cafes and pubs with the hope of cutting service time, increasing repeat business and ultimately generating more revenue for businesses within the hospitality industry.

Product details:

iDon’tQ is a free mobile app which essentially enables customers who have downloaded it to order and pay for food and drinks in advance of their visit to a restaurant or pub. Using the secure PIN protected payment system, iDon’tQ users are able to make orders and pay for them via their smartphones after registering their credit card. Meanwhile the business receives the pre-paid order via a digital tablet provided by iDon'tQ and can prepare the order to the customer's specified time. Staff can then deliver the order to the customer's table or it can be collected from a special collection point, depending on the type of business.

A representative from iDon’tQ installs a tablet at the venue concerned which is connected to the venue's WiFi. At the same time the representative will help set up the menu on the system and train staff in how to use it. A customer's payments are made to the business through a secure payment platform operated by Elavon and money is paid to the business in the same way as a regular credit card transaction would be.

USP:

iDon’tQ claims that its new innovative tool will reduce costs, increase turnover, drive footfall and revolutionise the service industry because:

  • It cuts service time
  • The order same again feature will drive repeat sales
  • Lessens the chance of walk-offs in busy venues where staff are easily distracted.
  • Increases sales by targeting your consumer at key times with your menu and special offers.
  • Enables venues to adopt efficient table service where they may not have been able to operate before.
  • Allows for data capture and customer insights.

Availbility:

Contact iDon'tQ through its website http://www.idontq.com/.

Price:

£250 initial charge to cover the cost of the digital tablet and a fee on all transactions made via the app which are similar to those charged by card merchant services providers. There are no monthly or annual fees and the service is being offered free to the first 100 businesses to be set up.

Why you should buy it:

The service could be useful for busy venues as it speeds up the ordering and billing process. It is also claimed that use of the app could give staff more time to engage with customers and also allow them to provide a more personal service, as they will know the customer’s name when delivering or serving their orders.

"Customers are looking for on-the-go convenience and iDon'tQ is a clever route to faster and easier service delivery via your smartphone” says Hannah Fitzsimons, head of business development at Elavon Merchant Services. “We believe mobile commerce will account for a significant proportion of all future of retail spend."
