Rhodes’ name was removed from the fine-dining restaurant and neighbouring brasserie in late September after an agreement through the Compass Group’s Restaurant Associates came to an end.
Housed in the Guoman Hotels-owned Cumberland hotel near London’s Marble Arch, the new-look restaurant offers classic British dishes with a European twist as chef Welburn hopes to ‘better anticipate the guests’ needs’.
“Throughout my career and in every kitchen I’ve worked in, I’ve always strived to build a culture of creativity, professionalism and collaboration among my chefs, cooks and colleagues,” said Welburn, who has been head chef at the venue since June 2008.
“Our new seven-course tasting menu is just the beginning of that and the first of many offerings designed to appeal to people on the cutting edge of London’s gastronomic scene."
