BrewDog appoints first operations director to spearhead expansion
Caroline Morris, former new concept development manager at Mitchells & Butlers, joined the company last week following the opening of BrewDog bars in Shoreditch and Bristol.
Morris's appointment comes in the same year that the unconventional brewer, launched just five years ago to provide an antidote to industrially brewed lagers and 'stuffy ales', outlined plans to add 11 sites to its estate by the end of 2012.
BrewDog co-founder James Watt said: "Caroline comes with a wealth of experience and she's exactly the kind of person we need at this moment in time.
"We've got a lot of new bars opening and we need someone like her to ensure we are not just tags on a map, but awesome, interesting spaces where people come to learn and love great beer."
New sites
BrewDog Birmingham is set to open on the city's John Bright Street later this month. It will be followed by the company's eleventh site in Leeds which, allow secured earlier this year, has only just won its licence due to a legal battle with Leeds City Council.
Morris, who will be responsible for spearheading further growth for the group over the next year, said she was 'thrilled' about the new role and looking forward to finding new sites.
She said: "BrewDog have always been at the forefront of engaging customers and making them passionate about great beer. In my new role I hope to be able to tap into this ethos and get more and more people to enjoy and love awesome craft beer."
"Ambitious is a word that’s quite synonymous with BrewDog, and that ambition has led us to have a target of 10 bar launches within the next 12 months, it's no small task, but it's one I know will be extremely rewarding as part of this team."
