Yorkshire-based bakers and pattissiers Just Desserts has launched its own-recipe Yorkshire Parkin for foodservice and hospitality businesses to serve up at Bonfire Night and beyond.

Product details:

A Northern English version of gingerbread, the parkin is baked in 8”x4” loaves and made with butter, dark muscovado sugar, oatmeal, black treacle and ground ginger to a traditional recipe that has been adapted by the Just Dessers baking team.

USP:

Already shortlisted for this year’s Deliciouslyorkshire Awards along with the Just Desserts Timothy Taylor Fruit Cake, the new Yorkshire Parkin delivers an authentic spicy and sticky taste and offers caterers versatile serving possibilities – it can be served warm with ice cream or custard; blended into a milkshake, or just as a plain slice.

Cost:

The product is available in batches of three loaves at £10 each, which works out at approximately £0.55 per portion.

Availability:

The Yorkshire Parkin is available to hotels, restaurants and pubs now. For more information on purchasing email fnyrf@whfg-qrffregf.pb.hx

Why you should buy it:

James O’Dwyer, managing director of Just Desserts, said: “Our bakers have been trawling through recipes since early Summer, looking for the perfect parkin taste and flavour.  We couldn’t find it, so we created our own and think we’re onto a winner.

“It’s a cross between gingerbread and cake with a real taste of Yorkshire and whilst traditionally eaten at Bonfire Night, we can see it being a staple, all-year-round parkin pud for caterers.”
