Miele Professional is to launch a new commercial tumble dryer which is heated using hot water, virtually eliminating running costs for hoteliers and efficiently making use of existing energy.

Product Details: Launching at the end of 2012, Miele Professional’s new commercial tumble dryers are heated using hot water which can come from a variety of sources such as solar-thermal energy, district heating, an on-premise co-generation plant or residual heat from a laundry room.

The hot water is used to heat process air in a heat exchanger in a H2O dryer with programmes specially designed to take gentle care of laundry at lower process air temperatures. This new type of heating will be available on tumble dryers with various load capacities, ranging from 325 l to 800 l models for 10 to 32 kg of laundry.

Miele’s H2O dryer potentially reduces heating costs to virtually zero if the source of heat is a co-generation plant: here the hot water is a by-product of cooling the generation plant and does not need to be heated separately.

USP: These tumble dryers are equipped with a supply connection for hot water heated centrally using waste heat.  Exploiting waste heat will not only significantly reduce energy costs but it also means that the heating on new Miele Professional dryers will almost be free.

Cost: Contact a Miele dealer to discuss pricing enquiries.

Availability: New Miele Professional commercial tumble dryers, which are heated using hot water, go into production in the UK towards the end of 2012 and will be available from the website www.mieleprofessional.co.uk.

Why Should You Buy It: A spokesperson forMiele Professional said: “The application of these heat-fed tumble dryers is a promising fuel-switching option for businesses. It increases heat demand in district heating networks; it saves primary energy and it can save costs.

“In this way, it can benefit utilities, the environment and businesses at the same time.”
