The chef’s second restaurant in the capital is set to open early next year across three floors on the site of the former Japanese restaurant, Ukai, just a few streets away from his debut London restaurant Pollen Street Social.
Bar and restaurant The Social Eating House, as it will be known, will be opened in partnership with Pollen Street Social head chef Paul Hood
Atherton said: “I am really excited to be going into partnership with Paul Hood, who has worked with me for over six years and is one of the most talented chefs I have ever come across.”
The deal for the restaurant was brokered through Coleman Dean commercial property advisors who acquired the site for Atherton’s Pollen Street Social which opened in April last year.
It is not yet known who will take over Hood's position at Pollen Street Social when he moves to The Social Eating House next year.
Restaurant success
Since opening, Atherton's restaurant Pollen Street Social has scored major success. It picked up a Michelin star last year within months of opening and was voted Square Meal's Restaurant of the Year before going on to take the coveted second place in this year's National Restaurant Awards.
Earlier this year the former Maze executive chef also opened a second business in Singapore. Pollen opened in there in June, joining the chef's small tapas bar l'Esquina. He also has a restaurant in Shanghai - Table No. 1 at the Waterhouse at South Bund hotel earlier this month opened 22 Ships in Hong Kong.
