Lahloo Tea brings tea from the world's oldest tea farmer to the trade
Product details:
Grandpa's Anytime Tea is a black loose-leaf tea from Kenya which is named after 113-year-old Arthur Njuguna Komo, the oldest-known tea farmer in the world. Grown on a farm situated between two main rivers (Rundu and Mukengeria) with their source in Mt Kenya’s forest, the tea has a sweet and slightly tangy aroma and can be served black or with milk. Lahloo Tea's Kate Gover decided to bring it to the UK after meeting and working with Komo's granddaughter Joy. It will be officially launched to the trade at the Speciality and Fine Food Fair in September.
USP:
The tea has a strong story behind it, which Gover believes helps sell the tea: “Just like fine wine, a tea’s unique tastes and aromas are influenced by the 'terroir' – the country, altitude, soil, rain, sun and the maker. As an importer of tea, I love to share the stories which help the consumers understand more about where their good old cuppa came from,” she said.

£14.50 for 500g (trade price only)
