Hensons Foodservice launches salt beef sausage to tap into street food popularity
Product details:
The London-based catering butcher has incorporated its most popular product into a gourmet sausage. The salt beef sausage contains farm-assured salt beef and uncured beef.
The product, which has a very high meat content of 83 per cent to just 15 per cent fat, is best cooked slowly either fried or griddled.
USP:
Hensons Foodservice is one of the only UK producers of salt beef which it has been creating for a number of years to its secret recipe and supplying to the hospitality industry - however this is the first time it has been available in a sausage.
The butcher selects cuts of prime, farm-assured, Irish brisket from Tipperary cattle before the meat is slow-cured to produce a 'delicate texture and fine flavour'. It advises serving the sausage with sharp and sweet flavours such as dill pickles and mustard.
Price:
The salt beef sausage can be bought direct from Hensons Foodservice or from a number of wholesalers and retail butchers - the price differs on the size of the order and where the product is purchased.
Availability:
The sausage comes as a 6oz Cumberland-style ring which comes in a pack of eight as well as traditional linked 4s, 6s and 8s which come in 1.5kg packs.
Why should you buy it?
Andrew Brook, managing director of Hensons, said: "The sausage was born from a need for new and interesting, high-end products. Street food and pop up stalls have become increasingly popular over the past few years as people look for quality food on the go."
"Salt beef and other popular British dishes are making a comeback as the country looks back to its food heritage. The salt beef sausage incorporates all of this history into a new form giving our customers the edge in the world of gourmet food on the go."
Extras:
Hensons Foodservice also produces salt beef brisket in varying sizes between 2.5kg and 8.8kg as well as salt beef silverside and salt ox tongue.
