Home Grown Hotels, the company behind The Pig hotel in the New Forest, is set to open a sister property in Dorset next year.

The Pig on the Beach is situated in a National Trust property above Studland Bay. The leasehold has been acquired for the 23-bedroom hotel for around £3m.

The Pig concept is the brainchild of Hotel du Vin co-founder Robin Hutson, who oversees the brand with co-director David Elton and co-investor Jim Ratcliffe.

“It is a truly unique property being sited in a completely unspoilt piece of coastal countryside yet within easy striking distance of London,” said Hutson. “We are very much looking forward to this project and the opportunity of creating something very special for this part of the country.”

BigHospitality originally broke the news of The Pig’s expansion plans last month, with Hutson telling us that ‘plans for the concept's expansion are well underway.’

The Pig also recently announced it would be opening its second property, The Pig - in the Wall, in Southampton docks this autumn.

The newly-acquired hotel will close for extensive refurbishment and it is expected to reopen in June 2013. Like its sibling in the forest, The Pig on the Beach will feature a kitchen garden of home-grown produce.
