IHG opens two hotels in Westfield Stratford City ahead of London 2012 Olympics

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has today announced the opening of two new hotels in Westfield Stratford City ahead of the London 2012 Olympics.

The two properties - Holiday Inn London Stratford City and Staybridge Suites London Stratford City – are located in a single building in Chesnut Plaza next to the London 2012 Olympic Park.

“A big focus for the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics is the regeneration of East London,” said Angela Brav, IHG’s chief executive for Europe. “The hotels will help to create that legacy, with 120 new jobs created.  The opening of these two new hotels also sees IHG pass a significant milestone, we now have over 40,000 hotel rooms in the UK.”

The 188-bedroom Holiday Inn features the ‘Twenty Twelve’ bar and ‘The Stadium’ lounge bar, as well as seven conference rooms, a fully equipped gym and a business centre.

The 162-room Staybridge Suites London Stratford City offers apartment-style living and is the first Staybridge Suites property to open in London and the third in the UK alongside Liverpool and Newcastle, which opened in 2008 and 2009 respectively.

The two hotels are owned by a Joint Venture between Cycas Hotel Partners and Patron Capital. The hotels are operated by Cycas Hospitality under a franchise agreement with IHG.
