With the hospitality sector under increasing Government pressure to offer more healthy options to diners, Jus-Rol says its range, which contains 30 per cent less fat than the standard range, will enable them to offer the same dishes without the high calories.
“Some consumers have shied away from pastry dishes in the past because they were concerned about their fat intake. Jus-Rol’s Reduced Fat pastry sheets have been developed to deliver the taste and texture of scratch made pastry that has become our trademark yet the pastry contains 30 per cent less fat than the ‘standard’ Jus-Rol Professional puff pastry recipe,” said Jus-Rol Professional foodservice sales manager John McKears.
“They give caterers an easy and practical solution to reduce the fat content of their most popular pastry dishes and satisfy the demands of customers who don’t want to sacrifice anything in terms of food taste and quality when dining out.”
Reduced fat shortcrust pastry blocks are already available in the range with reduced fat puff pastry sheets available from this August.
Sheets will be available in 43cm by 29cm sizes, ideal for large scale preparation, but can also be cut to size for use.
McKears said the range would help caterers not only meet nutritional guidelines but could save time and wastage.
