The art of Mushrooming
Hotel du Vin Poole has launched 'the art of mushrooming' guest package with White Pepper, a local and exciting Dorset cookery school. After a Saturday morning tutorial, guests head off for a half day of Mushroom Foraging in the Dorset Countryside. Once armed with a multitude of varieties, they head back to the White Pepper Cookery School for a cookery workshop and late lunch made from the days findings. Back at the a hotel, guests will be treated to a private 4-course mushroom-themed dinner cooked-up and washed down with the head sommelier’s specially selected wines. The packages is priced at £299 per person.
DJ nights
East London hotel Aloft London Excel has launched regular DJ nights hosted by female DJ duo Alterrego. The ‘Diva DJ’ nights will bring the duo’s signature dance, electro house and commercial sounds to the hotel’s w xyz bar every Friday night from 7pm. Diva DJ nights were first launched by the Aloft brand in 2008 as a way of championing female DJ talent local to Aloft hotels. Up-and-coming female DJs now play regular weekly sets at Aloft hotels around the world. Alterrego will be playing in the w xyz bar at Aloft London Excel every Friday from 7pm from 11th May 2012 to 6th July 2012. The Moat
Ruthin Castle, the privately owned castle hotel in North Wales, is to open a new spa, The Moat, which will feature a number of wellbeing innovations including the UK’s first outdoor Sauna Tent. Outdoors, The Moat will offer a range of spa facilities including a Dutch hot tub, a fire pit for BBQs and spit roasts and cocoons swinging from the trees. Indoors, The Moat will offer a series of spring water and mineral rich filled hot tubs of varying temperatures, thermal rooms and a mud bath using Welsh mud. In addition there will be five treatment rooms including a VIP couple’s room with copper bath and private steam room, a Moat in the Moat champagne nail bar and relaxation room complete with king-size loungers. The Moat will be accessible to spa break and day spa/treatment visitors in addition to hotel residents. It will open in July.
Euro 2012 combo
Park Plaza Sherlock Holmes is dishing up a 'classic combo' for ardent footie fans to get their teeth into ahead of the Euro 2012 football tournament. From 8 June to 1 July, the four-star boutique hotel will be serving a choice of eight beers from teams in the final line up, to be enjoyed with either a burger or fish and chips. Supporters can savour a Spitfire from England, Budvar from the Czech Republic, Guinness from the Republic of Ireland, Heineken from the Netherlands, Nastro Azzurro from Italy, and for a limited time only, Carlsberg from Denmark, San Miguel from Spain andKronenbourg from France. Fans can watch matches on 42-inch screens in both the lounge and bar areas, or from one of Park Plaza Sherlock Holmes’ guestrooms.
