Classic Cuisine launches Jubilee-inspired fish, chip and pea pie

Foodservice ready meal supplier Classic Cuisine has launched a fish, chip and pea pie 'inspired by everything British', available to restaurants, pubs and bars in time for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The pie is made with a light puff pastry case, filled with chunks of cod, mushy peas, cheddar sauce and cheddar cheese, and topped with potato wedges with a hint of vinegar.

“We wanted to create a very British dish to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and what could be more British than fish and chips,” explained Paul Hunt, new development manager at Classic Cuisine. “Obviously we had to add our bespoke Classic Cuisine twist by turning it in to a deliciously light and tasty pie.”

Jeeva Sanmugam, Classic Cuisine’s managing director, added: “We believe that our secret to success is a combination of being innovative but also ensuring a homemade feel to our dishes. Our frozen ready meal range features prepared starters and main courses that are ‘classic’ recipes with a modern twist.”

Northampton-based Classic Cuisine was originally set up in 1990 and now produces over six million ready meals for the UK foodservice industry every year.

Mark Dean, the company’s sales director, concluded: “We are very proud of our Jubilee-inspired product and it has had a positive uptake by our customers already. When it comes to innovation and unique products we pride ourselves on being leaders in the frozen ready meal industry."
