Hectarage in production of English wine is now the highest ever recorded, showing a rise of more than 60 per cent in five years and last year saw English vineyards fill three million bottles.
English Wine Producers' new logo with the strapline 'promoting the fine wines of England' has been designed to reflect the 'freshness' of the English landscape, as well as provide a seal of assurance to buyers that they are purchasing wines from EWP's members, who include the largest and leading producers with the collective message of quality and consistency in their wines.
"EWP’s role is to support its members and the logo reflects this,” said Julia Trustram Eve, marketing director of EWP. “We’ve gone for understated elegance – just like the wines we work with.”
EWP has also designed a logo with the strapline 'celebrate with English wine' for the consumer which is centred around this year's national celebrations and will be heavily promoted during English Wine Week (2 to 10 June).
“We wanted to capture the mood of the moment, which is definitely that of celebration: this year’s Jubilee and Olympics as well as the continuing success of England’s wines,” said Trustram Eve. “The aim is to create a bold message to use on publicity, marketing and point of sale material, enabling outlets from restaurants to off licences to link their customers with the excitement of the year, and of course with English wines.”
