Quorn unites with KK Fine Foods to launch range of ready meals
The dishes include Quorn tikka masala; Quorn Szechuan pepperpot; Quorn cottage pie with creamy leek mash; Quorn tagine and Sri Lankan Quorn curry.
“We’re thrilled to be working so closely with KK Fine Foods on this venture,” said Tony Davison, commercial manager of foodservice for Quorn Foods. "They know and understand the tastes and flavours needed to produce great-tasting authentic vegetarian dishes and we knew we could create something great with them.
“The dishes we chose are traditional favourites, but with a twist. We’ve not just re-created a cottage pie using Quorn rather than regular protein; we’ve looked closely at the recipe to ensure we’re really developing some strong flavours that will enhance the experience for the customer.”
Wider choice
Samir Edwards, commercial director for KK Fine Foods, added: “This collaboration was something we were really keen to explore. The dishes we’ve made together demonstrate how we can create some truly outstanding options that we know customers will enjoy.
“Marston’s Inns & Taverns have already listed the new Quorn Szechuan pepperpot and we’re already exploring new opportunities for the range. We believe these dishes will enable operators to offer a wider choice to their customers without having to have a highly skilled team in the kitchen.”
Unique ingredient
The unique ingredient in all Quorn products is mycoprotein, an edible fungi and a relative of the mushroom family. It provides a good source of protein, is low in fat, low in cholesterol and contains no additives or artificial colours. It is also a good source of dietary fibre and essential vitamins and minerals to aid the development of healthy bones, joints, blood and the digestive system.
