Largest Hampton by Hilton outside US to open in Birmingham

The 285-bedroom hotel will be operated by Sanguine Hospitality, the company which developed the nearby Indigo hotel at The Cube and which has worked with Marco Pierre White on a number of projects in the Midlands and northern England. 

Work, estimated to cost around £30m, has been going on since November 2010 to transform the formerly derelict Cumberland House on the city's Broad Street into the hotel. 

General manager, Elaine Grahame, said: “We want to create not only one of the world’s largest Hampton by Hilton locations, but also one of the best. Our guests should come to know us for high-quality accommodation, exemplary service and a great location, whatever the purpose of their stay. 

“Although we are still just over a month away from opening, the hotel already looks in very good shape, which only increases the level of excitement among every member of staff.  We hope our guests will like what they see as much as we do.”

Brand growth​

Hampton by Hilton Birmingham Broad Street will be the brand's tenth hotel to open in the UK. Its ninth opened in Croydon earlier this month. 

The 120-bedroom hotel, built by the Ardmore Group, is on Dingwall Road next to East Croydon station, a main line into central London, making it the brand's closest to London.

Hampton by Hilton first arrived in the UK in 2009 in Corby and has opened hotels in Derby, Liverpool, Braintree, Newport and Shrewsbury.
