Funkin launches 100cl Margarita cocktail mixer for on-trade

Cocktail mixer manufacturer Funkin has expanded its range of cocktail mixer packs with the launch of a 100cl Margarita pack, the sixth of the single serve mixers to be launched in a large pack format.

The London-based company launched the large pack range of mixers in order to enhance efficiency and profitability for the on-trade market. The Margarita mixer pack was launched initially in JD Wetherspoon and joins the other cocktail mixers that Funkin already provide in a size designed for pubs and bars.

Andrew King, chief executive of Funkin said the launch was driven by the demand from the on-trade market.

“The launch of the 100cl range last year was borne out of increasing demand for cocktails amongst high volume customers using our single serve cocktail mixers and was designed to help them make the most of their drinks offering through increased speed of serve. Over 250,000 Funkin Margaritas were consumed in the UK last year and it was the most popular of our pre-mixed cocktails in the US in 2011," he said.

"With this level of demand, the 100cl pack will enable bartenders and licensees to create Funkin Margarita cocktails more quickly and easily, generating even greater profit margins,” King added.

10 cocktails

Each 100cl pack can make up to 10 cocktails and are available to pubs and bars across the country and take only 10 seconds to serve. Bartenders only need to add ice and a spirit.

The other cocktails currently available to the on-trade market are Mojito, Cosmopolitan, Strawberry Daiquiri, Strawberry Woo Woo and Sour Mix.

Earlier this month Funkin, which has been manufacturing fruit purées for 10 years, was recognised for the design of the cocktail mixer pouches at the Design Effectiveness Awards, hosted by the Design Business Association (DBA). The packaging was awarded a silver medal.
