The 29-bedroom, 13th Century hotel and spa in Midlothian was the only Scottish hotel in the Von Essen collection. It is believed to have been acquired by Robert and Gina Parker, who own a collection of privately owned hotels and venues in Northumberland.
A spokesperson for the Doxford Hall hotel, which is currently within the Parkers’ portfolio, told BigHospitality: “Contracts have been exchanged with completions expected towards the end of this month all being well.”
The hotel was originally put on the market for £7.5m upon the collapse of von Essen Hotels in April 2011. Six of the 27 hotels are still up for sale through property agent Christie & Co.
Other companies who have acquired Von Essen hotels so far include Brownsword Hotels, Halycon Hotels & Resorts and The Eden Collection.
The remaining Von Essen hotels:
- Congham Hall, Norfolk
- Lewtrenchard Manor, Devon
- Seaham Hall, County Durham
- Sharrow Bay, Cumbria
- Ston Eaton Park, Somerset
- The Royal Crescent, Bath
