Designed by Leslie Jones, the expanded space will add a 3,900sq.ft restaurant and two concessions alongside the restaurants already in The Wintergarden section of the centre including Leon, Nando’s and Chopstix.
Work on the redesign has already begun and will be completed by autumn. The news comes less than three months since the opening of ‘entertainment dining’ space The Plaza and the Bluewater event space Glow.
Robert Goodman, general manager of Bluewater, said: “The Wintergarden is Bluewater’s front door for many of our guests, and we feel it is now time to give it a new look, by enhancing the offer, the environment and the experience.”
“Together with the opening of The Plaza last November with its unique ‘entertainment dining’ offer, and our previous work to introduce new brands to The Village, Bluewater is once again creating an unrivalled day-out experience for its guests,” he said.
Up 24 per cent
After The Wintergarden reopens Bluewater will host 14,500sq.ft space dedicated to dining. Catering sales in the centre’s 50-plus bars and restaurants increased by more than 24 per cent in December 2011 from a year ago.
The Plaza was opened in November 2011 and is now home to Wahaca, Jamie’s Italian, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Wagamama and La Tasca among others.
Carluccio's, Loch Fyne and Zizzi all have sites open in The Village, the third specific dining space at Bluewater which is described as the ‘premium dining’ offering the first Côte in the UK in a non-High Street location was also opened in The Village, Bluewater.
