Roux family behind the scenes in new TV show
The Roux Legacy, which launches on Good Food on 29 January, will also interview fellow chefs including those whose careers they were instrumental towards such as Marcus Wareing.
Albert, Alain and Michel Roux Sr and Jr will all be interviewed for the show to explore the importance of the Roux family to UK cooking and the restaurant industry and how they have influenced food habits in the country.
Roux Scholarship
Each episode will show the family working and cooking alongside each other, a 'masterclass' of two recipes and footage from the annual Roux Scholarship which will provide the climax to the series as the winner is revealed.
The Roux Scholarship is one of the most prestigious awards in the industry and previous winners include Sat Bains and Andrew Fairlie. Viewers to The Roux Legacy will be able to see the competition in action and the judging panel, which includes Gary Rhodes and Brian Turner, decide which chef will win the prize and three months experience in a Michelin-starred restaurant.
Earlier this month BigHospitality reported the deadline was approaching for entries to the scholarship with deadlines closing on 30 January.
Legendary name
Clare Laycock from the UKTV channel Good Food said the TV show was lucky to have unprecedented access to the family.
"The Roux family name is legendary within culinary circles. Over the last four decades, the Roux family have made a lasting impact on British eating habits and we’re delighted to be bringing their story to Good Food as part of such a unique and compelling series," she said.
