Seaside Sleepover
Barceló Imperial Hotel in Blackpool is preparing to host a family sleepover night in aid of a children’s charity. The seafront hotel is supporting the Legacy Rainbow House’s Sleep Week campaign. The charity helps children with disabilities, brain injuries and life limiting conditions. On Friday 30 March, the hotel will be opening its doors to families at a discounted rate for a fun filled night of entertainment including a disco, food, games and a bar. Diane Page, sales manager at the Barcelo Imperial, said: “I have been to Rainbow House and seen the great work that they do and so we are really looking forward to supporting them in this campaign. This event is something different and will be a lot of fun for everyone involved. We hope it will appeal to both local families and people from further afield and will be a big success.”
Brew your own ale
London-based, three-strong pub group The Draft House is offering beer lovers the chance to design, brew and name their very own cask ale. Customers need to submit the name of their ale and description using 14 words or fewer by email to The Drafthouse (see website). Duncan Sambrook and Charlie McVeigh - founders of The Draft House - will pick the winner on February 28th 2011. For the winner of Brew Your Own, 50 firkins (3,600 pints) of their dream beer will be created, brewed and named by them, with a little help from Sambrook, One 72-pint cask will be reserved for the winner and their friends to enjoy at a private party.
Secrets of the City Walk
Prism Brasserie in London has launched the Secrets of the City Afternoon Walk, giving insights into the local area every Wednesday up until the end of February.The hour-and-a-half Secrets of the City walk takes in 2,000 years of history, including a huge golden grasshopper, nuns behaving badly and Mr Pickwick’s favourite pub. Prism’s Traditional Afternoon Tea waits at the end of the walk with a selection of sandwiches, home-made cakes and freshly-baked scones. Alternatively, the Gentleman’s Afternoon Tea menu features Artisanal baguette with salt beef, English mustard and gherkins, Scotch egg, piccalilli and watercress salad and Apple fool, cold custard and vanilla ice cream. The walk is priced at £31.50 per person including the afternoon tea, which starts at 2pm every Wednesday.
25 Overnight Stays for 25th Anniversary
Gilpin Hotel and Lake House in Windermere is marking it’s quarter-century anniversary by offering long-term couples the chance to win an all-inclusive break. The Cunliffes, who own the hotel, decided the ideal way to celebrate their anniversary would be with other couples enjoying equally enduring relationships. The 25 couples will each receive an inclusive mid-week overnight stay at Gilpin Hotel, including afternoon tea, and Champagne followed by a five course dinner with matched wines, and full English breakfast the following morning. One further winner will receive a prize worth £4,500, including sole use of all facilities at the Lake House, set on a private lake in 100 acres of grounds.
