Geronimo Inns, the London-based, food-led pub operator, is set to unveil The Oyster Shed in the City of London as the latest addition to its growing portfolio.

Situated on Angel Lane, The Oyster Shed will open on 23 January and is the 31st site in the capital for Geronimo Inns founders Rupert and Jo Clevely. The food menu will centre on seafood as well as offering traditional British dishes.

Perfect location

“What a location,” said Ed Turner, commercial director at Geronimo Inns. “This is a dream pub for us. Delicious views, delightful neighbours and a blank canvas in which we’re creating a wonderful food-pub.

“Wherever you sit you’ll be able to enjoy a fine pint, a glass of wine over a plate of good food with excellent views of the river – perfect for a glass of stout and some oysters, a quick light lunch or something a little longer. OR even dinner in the Club Room (Geronimo’s separate dining room).”

The Oyster Shed has a capacity of 60 seated/250 standing downstairs, 30 seated/120 standing on the mezzanine level and 20 seated in the private dining room. Drinks will include an extensive wine and Champagne list and a wide selection of local ales, stouts, whiskies, wines and cocktails.

Sample dishes:

  • Bar Snacks: Pickled octopus - £4.95
  • Bar Boards: Fishmongers’ Board Smoked salmon, spiced prawns, fish cakes, fish fingers, mackerel, with accompaniments - £13.50
  • Mains: Steak and oyster pie - £15.50
  • Desserts: Treacle tart and clotted cream - £6.50

The design of the pub-restaurant will feature a sea theme running throughout, with floor-to-ceiling glass windows, ocean blue furniture, and an outside area with a fire pit and pine tables and chairs.

The Oyster Shed’s opening comes at a particularly notable time for Geronimo Inns, which is celebrating its first anniversary since being acquired by Young’s in December 2010.

“To us a site like this is reward for all the hard work over the last 15 years,” added Turner. “Onwards and upwards for Geronimo.”
