Nelson Hotels buys The Fishpool Inn with plans for £1m gastropub transformation

Nelson Hotels, the family-owned, Cheshire-based hotel group has bought The Fishpool Inn in Delamere, with plans for a £1m refurbishment of the property to transform it into a gastropub.

The traditional country pub will remain open for Christmas but will be closed for January and February 2012 while the refurbishment of the interior takes place.

“We are delighted to add The Fishpool Inn to our portfolio of venues,” said Nelson Hotels operations director Andrew Nelson. “After searching for new properties for over four years, this was the only property that really stood out and fulfilled our requirements.”

Nelson Hotels currently owns and manages three hotels – The Grosvenor Pulford Hotel & Spa near Chester, The Bear’s Paw in Warmingham, and The Pheasant Inn in Higher Burwardsley.

The Fishpool Inn: location and food

“The location of The Fishpool Inn is ideal and there is plenty of potential to bring this traditional country inn to life as a top Cheshire destination for wonderful food and drink,” added Nelson.

As a gastropub, the Fishpool Inn will offer fresh, seasonal, locally-sourced food on the menus and real ales from local breweries taking centre stage on the bar; the inn also features a well-kept beer garden.

Properties under the Nelson Hotels portfolio have received a number of awards including an AA Rosette Ciro’s Brasserie at The Grosvenor Pulford and AA Dinner Awards for The Pheasant Inn and The Bears Paw.
